From now on, it is possible to link specific UFI codes to existing product information in Chemrade. This year, a new CLP label element appeared on chemical labels – a 16-character code called the Unique Formula Identifier (UFI). In 2025, UFI codes will be mandatory on the label of all products that may have health consequences and whose physical effects are classified as hazardous. Manufacturers and importers of such products will have to provide specific product information, including UFI, to poison centres. The purpose of the UFI code is to simplify product identification when making emergency calls to toxicological centres. Manufacturers can generate UFI codes for their products through an online tool on the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) website. The UFI code is linked to a specific combination of manufacturer and formula.
